چکیده

In this paper we investigate the nonadiabatic photodissociation dynamics of ICN in the à continuum, using a semiclassical initial value representation method which is able to describe electronically nonadiabatic processes through the quantization of the classical electron–nuclear model Hamiltonian of Meyer and Miller @J. Chem. Phys. 70, 3214 ~1979!#. We explore the capabilities of this semiclassical technique as applied to studying the ICN absorption spectrum, and the CN rotational distribution, through direct comparison of our semiclassical results with experimental data, and with full quantum mechanical calculations. We find that the Meyer–Miller Hamiltonian, quantized according to the semiclassical prescription, describes the ICN photodissociation dynamics in excellent agreement with full-quantum mechanical calculations. © 2000 American Institute of Physics. @S0021-9606~00!01113-2#

Semiclassical Dynamics in the Coherent Control of Nonadiabatic ICN Photodissociation†

The utility of a semiclassical initial value representation (SC-IVR) to simulate coherent control is explored. Specifically, bichromatic control of the state specific ICN photodissociation in the à continuum is investigated both quantum mechanically and semiclassically, and the ability of the SC-IVR method to reproduce phases of transition matrix element products is examined. Control over the I...

Semiclassical molecular dynamics simulations of ultrafast photodissociation dynamics associated with the Chappuis band of ozone

In this paper we investigate the nonadiabatic ultrafast dynamics of interconversion between the two lower lying excited states of A9 symmetry ~1 A9 and 2 A9) of ozone following photoexcitation of the molecule in the gas phase with visible light. Our algorithm involves a semiclassical initial value representation method which is able to describe electronically nonadiabatic processes within the t...

Adiabatic states derived from a spin-coupled diabatic transformation: semiclassical trajectory study of photodissociation of HBr and the construction of potential curves for LiBr+.

The development of spin-coupled diabatic representations for theoretical semiclassical treatments of photodissociation dynamics is an important practical goal, and some of the assumptions required to carry this out may be validated by applications to simple systems. With this objective, we report here a study of the photodissociation dynamics of the prototypical HBr system using semiclassical t...

Semiclassical initial value representation for electronically nonadiabatic molecular dynamics

The semiclassical initial value representation ~SC-IVR!, which has recently seen a great deal of interest for treating nuclear dynamics on a single potential energy surface, is generalized to be able to describe electronically nonadiabatic ~i.e., multisurface! processes. The essential idea is a quantization of the classical electron-nuclear Hamiltonian of Meyer and Miller @J. Chem. Phys. 70, 32...

Photofragmentation dynamics of ICN(-)(CO2)n clusters following visible excitation.

Photodissociation of ICN(-)(CO2)n, n = 0-18, with 500-nm excitation is investigated using a dual time-of-flight mass spectrometer. Photoabsorption to the (2)Π(1/2) state is detected using ionic-photoproduct action spectroscopy; the maximum absorption occurs around 490 nm. Ionic-photoproduct distributions were determined for ICN(-)(CO2)n at 500 nm. Following photodissociation of bare ICN(-) via ...
